Cosy meditation

Alison Gough

It's that time of year, with the darker, longer nights and the colder weather, when cosiness is high on the agenda and I have the perfect meditation for you to help you sink into that feeling. Settle in and get cosy!

Start by taking your awareness to your breathing and allow it to drop into a natural, effortless rhythm. After you've taken a few rounds of breath, gradually shift your attention to the way your body moves in response to your breathing; outwards as you inhale and expand and inwards as you exhale and contract. Take your time to really notice the movement.

Continue to breathe easily and fully and as you do, visualise your body made from strands of wool knitted together. The wool can be any colour and any style. Visualise your cosy, knitted woolen body. As you inhale, feel all the strands of wool expand and as you exhale feel the strands draw back together. As you inhale, the strands of your knitted woolen body expand, little gaps between the stitches, and as you exhale, the strands of your woolen body come back together and the gaps close.

Stay with this cosy visualisation for as long as you wish and give yourself plenty of time to come back to your day when you're ready.
